100-Word Fiction: “Alpha”

He stalked her around the yard, watching from a distance. She ignored him, her head high and back straight as she walked from one hut to the next: purposeful, graceful, a perfect female specimen. When she paused, he seized his moment, head bent low for a racing pounce.

He grabbed the back of her neck. Luna bucked, in surprise first followed by angry offense. She spun – still graceful, still perfect – and snapped him squarely in the face.

Axton tsked as Loki limped away, tail between his legs. “I warned you, son. Don’t mess with your alpha. Especially when she’s a chick.”
